Jitter Bugs

This is our largest of the rooms which can hold 32 children. The room is spacious to allow the children to move freely between their chosen activities. The room is separated into the six areas of learning which are Personal, Social and Emotional, Communication Language and Literacy, Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy, Knowledge and Understand of the World, Creative and Physical, this is to support the children through there overall development. All activities are planned by the children’s own interests in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS).

Jitterbugs have a much more structured routine. The children participate in two group times a day, this allows all the children to be together and talk and listen to each other allows for feeling to be expressed and respect to be developed. The children then have two periods of free play where they can choose what they wish to play with and how they wish to play with it. We believe that as children play they are being challenged and learning at their highest level. During these free play sessions the children are encouraged to participate in focused activities that are planned around the interests of the individual children.
